Sherborne is the site of two important castles—the Old and New—that face one another today across an 18th-century lake. The talk will consider the development and relationship of these two buildings as well as the remarkable image of the former that is presented on the 14th-century funerary brass of Bishop Wyville of Salisbury.

John Goodall is a distinguished architectural historian, formerly an inspector with English Heritage, and author of a major study of the English castle. He is Architectural Editor of Country Life magazine.
