With her background, Jane Macartney will speak of her wide experiences in China.  She is a direct descendant of Lord Macartney, who led the first and famous British diplomatic mission to China in 1793 and will be able to offer an historical perspective.

Jane Macartney’s previous postings have included Reuters Bureau Chief in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Japan. She is a recognised expert on China affairs and a fluent Mandarin speaker.
