A rare opportunity to view original documents, with insights into the mindset of women and men of the Middle Ages

Medieval books can offer fascinating, intriguing insights into the thought and daily life of forbears in Western Christendom from the Nirman Conquest to the Reformation: their aspirations, fears, humanity, all come through from a world seemingly distant from our own,but which speaks to our own condition in many ways. Original items will be exhibited.

Robert is Keeper Emeritus of the Fellows’ Library of rare books, Dulwich College, where he taught Religion and Philosophy. His speciality is study of medieval manuscript fragments for which study he was elected a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. Studies at Durham, Oxford and London prepared him for a life sharing his enthusiasms.
