Treasures of Sherborne School

We are delighted that Dr Huw Ridgeway, former head of History, has agreed to take another tour of Sherborne School.

There has been a school in Sherborne since the time of King Alfred the Great.

The school was refounded in 1550 as King Edward’s grammar school, using some of the old abbey buildings, but is now known simply as Sherborne School.

One of Britain’s top independent schools, Sherborne boasts numerous famous alumni. Rachel Hassall  the school archivist, plans to provide exhibits relating to some well known Shiburnians.

Please note that a fair amount of walking is included, some over cobbled surfaces.  Dr Ridgeway’s previous tours were oversubscribed. As numbers are limited to 25 please book in good time.

Meet at school entrance gateway at 14.30 for the start of the tour, which will end at the school’s Hub Café for cake and hot drink  (included).

Cost:  £12 to include guided tour by Dr Ridgeway,  archivist exhibits, and refreshments at Hub Café.

Please send your cheque with completed booking form to Visits Secretary:

Douglas Maxwell,  The Dairy House,  Milborne Wick,  Sherborne DT9 4PW.
