Plague: The very word is inclined to strike fear into the heart but what is it, where did it come from and is it still about?This talk covers the history of the plague from the Iron Age through to the mass deaths in medieval times to the atrocities of its use in germ warfare in the twentieth century. The story encompasses everything from history and science through to morality.
Dr. Tim Mason, Lecturer in Medical Microbiology (retired), University of Portsmouth. He lectured for thirty five years to undergraduate Pharmacy students at the University of Portsmouth. Having always had a great fascination with the history of infectious diseases his retirement has enabled him to develop his studies in that area and to become a regular lecturer on the topic at a wide range of organisations.
