Hardy and his world: in letters

The two speakers will combine to present an insight into Hardy’s world, via the reading of his correspondence. 

Both Speakers have developed teaching materials for schools and universities on Darwin, Hardy and the culture of letter writing.

Angelique Richardson is Professor of English and a historian of science at the University of Exeter, where she leads the Hardy’s Correspondents Project.  Her books include Love and Eugenics in the Late 19th Century, After Darwin: Animals, Emotions and the Mind and Women Who Did: Stories by Men and Women, 1890-1914.

Dr Beth Mills is a University of Exeter Department of English Graduate, with a PHD in English Studies, specialising in Victorian Literature and Science.
