Bournemouth and Breamore

Thursday 26th May 2016

The coach will drive to East Cliff Bournemouth dropping us off around 10.00 near the Russell-Cotes Museum and Art Gallery. The group will then be divided into two for a 45 minute tour of this very eclectic museum built by Sir Merton Russell-Cotes for his wife Annie in 1901. They travelled all over the world and collected as they went. Coffee, included in the price, will then be available in the Cafe from 11.00. For your two hours free, Bournemouth Pier and Gardens and the Old Christchurch Road are within an easy walk.

At 13.40 the coach will return to East Cliff to take us to Breamore House, an Elizabethan Manor built in 1583 not far from Fordingbridge. Owned by the Hulse family, Michael or a colleague will tell you fascinating stories of his ancestors, as you see period furniture, tapestries, china and many family portraits. You will have time also to explore a countryside museum, particularly focussing on rural life in the 1920s. Do not miss the 10th century Saxon church before tea at 16.30 with the coach leaving around 17.00.

Time of departure from Culverhayes Car Park                                      8.45

Approximate time of return                                                                     18.00

Cost   £ 42.  This will include travel in an Executive Coach, guided tours, coffee on arrival in Bournemouth as well as a delicious cream tea.
