The speaker served for six years in Berlin and East Germany during the Cold War in intelligence-related posts and will focus on the struggle to gain information about the Soviets and their East German allies.

Peter Williams spent over thirty years in the Coldstream Guards, during which time he served twice in Northern Ireland, three times in Bosnia and for two years in the mountains of southern Oman, as well as six years in Berlin.  His final post was in Moscow, 2002-05, where he led NATO’s Military Liaison Mission to the Russian Federation.
